Camden Disability Action (CDA) has appointed Colin Brummage as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Colin is disabled himself, starts in late May and is currently working on a programme of work to improve disability employment outcomes in the London Borough of Hackney.
He has over 12 years’ experience in senior management positions for d/Deaf and disabled people’s organisations (DDPOs) and in his last role was working for the policy unit at the Department for Work and Pensions to bring the social model of disability to Jobcentre Plus.
Colin is a successful fundraiser and has won over 1 million pounds in service contracts for DDPOs including major funding for a large expansion of disability employment services across West London.
Among his other skills, Colin is an actor and has appeared in Midsomer Murders, but we are not expecting to count the bodies at CDA!
Colin said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new CEO of CDA at this exciting time for the organisation, which I believe is on the verge of being a major player in the fight for disability rights and equality.
The CDA and the Centre for Independent living at the Greenwood centre makes a substantial platform from which to advocate for the cause and for me is an opportunity to work with colleagues and partners to see that the social model of disability can be used to bring long lasting and real change for local disabled people.”
CDA’s Chair Oliver Greene added: “We are delighted to have appointed Colin as the new CEO. He comes with a wealth of professional and personal experience of disability and organisational development. CDA is running the Centre for Independent Living at the Greenwood Centre, and through that we have some great partnerships with other disability organisations in Camden, the Council and the NHS. Colin has an exciting and rewarding job to do.”
