Information and Communications Officer
Camden Centre for Independent Living (Camden CIL) is a new service, run and controlled by disabled people. Its main purpose is to improve the life chances of disabled people in Camden and to promote the empowerment of Deaf and Disabled people in their everyday life.
Camden CIL is run by a consortium of organisations, led by Camden Disability Action, a user-led organisation which aims to promote the equality of deaf and disabled people living or working in Camden.
The Camden CIL will be one-stop-shop for advice, information and support for disabled people, including those whose first language is not English or who use BSL and have a learning disability. It will provide volunteering, learning opportunities and work opportunities for disabled people. It will build the confidence of disabled people and help them to speak up for themselves about issues that are important to them and their families.
The Camden CIL is now looking for an experienced and enthusiastic engagement officer to lead development of a new model of engagement for disabled people in Camden, and support disabled people to play a full role in the CIL and in Camden’s wider community, including supporting the involvement of volunteers and an experienced and enthusiastic information and communications officer to set up and run an information service for disabled people in Camden. This post also provides administrative support to the CIL committee.
This service is run for disabled people and is therefore restricted to disabled applicants under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Paragraph 1. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
